Roy Andrew Lafontaine believes his unit, the 10th Service Squadron, may have been initially based Armstrong's Paddock after they disembarked at Townsville.

This B-24 was accepted by the AAF on 27 January 1944. It arrived in Australia on 30 March 1944. It was salvaged as War Weary sometime in 1945.
