CRASH LANDING OF A GRUMMAN
J2F-5 DUCK
OF MARINE UTILITY SQUADRON TWO, US NAVY
AT ARCHERFIELD AIRFIELD, BRISBANE, QLD
ON 6 NOVEMBER 1944
On 6 November 1944, a J2F-5 Duck, Bureau Number 00724, piloted by Lt. jg James B. Stacy of Detachment "A" of Marine Utility Squadron Two crashed on landing at Archerfield Airfield in Brisbane in south east Queensland. "Detachment "A" was based at Archerfield Airfield at the time of the crash landing. On 7 November 1944, the aircraft was transferred to the U.S. Naval Recovery Unit, Navy Number 134, Brisbane for Salvage.
