DURING WW2

hline.gif (2424 bytes)

The premises at 63 Stagpole Street, West End in Townsville was hired during WW2 by the Australian Commonwealth Government.

There is a file in the National Archives in Victoria covering the hiring of this building.

Series No.: MP508/1
Control symbol: 259/737/1287

It is interested to note that there are also files to do with the acquisition of 52 Stagpole Street for Army Survey in 1961. There is another file to do with a proposed acquisition of 94 Stagpole Street in the period 1948 - 1982.

Was 63 Stagpole Street used as quarters for officers based at the Green Street bunker (Project 81) at West End in Townsville.

What was it used for?

Can someone help me please?
