Folmer Sogaard, of the 63rd Bomb Squadron, of the 43rd Bomb Group of the 5th Air Force flew in B-17F Flying Fortress #41-24520 "Fightin Swede". Folmer was the Commanding Officer of the 63rd Bomb Squadron from 24 May 1943 to 16 August 1943. Folmer Sogaard is recognized in "Who's Who In Aviation" in 1943 for his accomplishments flying his B-17 Flying Fortress in the 5th Air Force.

I'd like to thank Mike Merryman for passing on the above photographs on this web page. Mike's father, Delmar Lee Merryman (new deceased), who was 87 years old in 2005, was a member of the 4th Depot Repair Squadron, 4th Air Depot from 1942 to 1945. Folmer Sogaard gave Mike Merryman the above photographs several years ago.
