The 1159th Quartermaster Company arrived in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 25 February 1942. After 5 days, the Detachment left Brisbane and arrived on 8 March 1942 at Ballarat, in Victoria. on 11 March 1942, the Detachment moved by truck convoy to Mt Gambier, in South Australia arriving there on the same day. Quartermaster installation were set up and the Detachment operated until 11 April 1942 on which date it departed for Bore #3, in the Northern Territory.
