IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII
No. 3 Fighter Sector Headquarters (3FSHQ) was established on 25 February 1942 in the Grammar School at North Ward in Townsville. Their camp was established on the corner of Paxton and Landsborough Streets in North Ward. After they later moved to a large concrete bunker at Stuart, this old camp at North Ward was used as accommodation for 152 WAAAFs from North Eastern Area.
