WRECKAGE OF A B-17 FLYING FORTRESS
LOCATED 6.5 MILES NORTH OF PORTLAND ROADS

On 1 May 1942, the wreckage of a USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress was located on the mud flats, 6.5 miles north of Portland Roads. The "Aircraft Crash Sites - Australia" list shows another identical entry for the same date - Crash No. 350. The wreckage of an A-20 Havoc - Crash No. 352 was also reported as being located in the same position on that same date.
