CRASH OF A WACKETT GANNET
AT LAVERTON AIRFIELD, VIC
ON 10 MAY 1942
On 10 May 1942, Wackett Gannet A14-4, of No. 2 Air Ambulance Unit 2 AAU, forced landed in a paddock at Laverton in Victoria after the starboard engine cut out during a delivery flight to 1 AD. The aircraft hit a stone after landing, skidded and went over on its nose when the starboard wheel collapsed. The nose was damaged and the longerons were twisted.
