P-40 KITTYHAWK COLLIDED WITH
TREE
NEAR MILDURA, VIC
ON 21 JANUARY 1945
P-40 Kittyhawk A29-121 (#41-35940) piloted by Flight Sergeant Cherry hit a tree when practicing barge straffing on the Murray River near Mildura in Victoria. The Kittyhawk made a heavy landing at high speed at Mildura airfield causing extensive damage.
No disciplinary action was taken.
It was approved for conversion on 20 March 1945.
