FORCED LANDING OF A
VULTEE VENGEANCE
NEAR CARRUM, VIC
ON 2 MAY 1945

Vultee Vengeance A27-560 from RAAF Station Laverton made a forced landing at Carrum in Victoria at approximately 0930 hours on 2 May 1945. It plunged through three wires fences, and 200 yards of vegetable gardens before colliding with two cows, both of which were killed. The pilot escaped with minor head injuries. The aircraft had been cooperating in exercises with the Navy over the Flinders Naval Depot, when its oil supply ran out. The engine cowling, undercarriage and wing were badly damaged.
