CRASH OF A SPITFIRE
4 MILES EAST OF YATPOOL, VIC
ON 17 FEBRUARY 1943
At approximately 0940 hours E.A.S.T. on 15 February 1943, Spitfire BR-238, A58-16, of No. 2 Operational Training Unit 2 OTU, made a wheels up, flaps up, forced landing 4 miles east of Yatpool in Victoria after an engine failure. The pilot, Sergeant N. J. Bennison (RAF 1331988), was uninjured.
The engine failed due to overheating. Glycol was issuing from the exhausts.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
