CRASH LANDING OF A BEAUFORT
AT CRESSY AIRFIELD, NEAR GEELONG, VIC
ON 18 NOVEMBER 1944
On Saturday 18 November 1944, the pilot of Beaufort A9-591 was carrying out an I.F. 8 Instrument Flight complete with 3 landings. They took off from East Sale in Victoria and during his second landing at Cressy Airfield near Geelong, in Victoria, the pilot made a cross wind landing approach, landed heavily and ground looped the aircraft. The aircraft was written off. No one was seriously injured.
WAAAF Dorothy Maie Wright, was a passenger and was getting a lift to attend a wedding at Caulfield in Melbourne.
