FORCED LANDING OF A BEAUFORT
9 MILES SOUTH OF EAST SALE, VIC
ON 8 MAY 1944
DAP Bristol Beaufort A9-579
On 8 May 1944, DAP Bristol Beaufort A9-579 of No. 1 Operational Training Unit, 1 OTU RAAF, made a forced landing in a paddock 9 miles south of East Sale in Victoria during a test flight. It was converted to components in December 1945. The crew of four were all uninjured as follows:-
F/Sgt. Vessey Thomas John Warren (411974) - pilot
F/Sgt Edwin Frederick Smith (411967) - crew
LAC James Lindsay Low (52290) - crew
LAC Edward Albert Gately (50090) - crew
