CRASH OF AN AVRO ANSON
AT MALLACOOTA AIRFIELD, VIC
ON 2 NOVEMBER 1942
At 1342 hours on 2 November 1942 Avro Anson DG919 of 67 Squadron RAAF (attached Laverton) crashed at Mallacoota Airfield in Victoria killing the three crew as follows:-
Sergeant John Hueston Sawrey (401856) Pilot of 6 SFTS
Sergeant Leonard Arthur Lupton (405485) of 67 Squadron
Sergeant Ralph Beverly Cassidy (411481) of 6 SFTS
The aircraft over ran the runway and crashed into a quarry and the three 100 lb A/S bombs onboard the aircraft exploded.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
