CRASH LANDING OF A B-26
MARAUDER
AT REID RIVER AIRFIELD, QLD
ON 26 SEP 1942
On 26 September 1942, B-26 Marauder #40-1392 of the 2nd Bomb Squadron of the 22nd Bomb Group crash landed at Reid River Airfield, south of Townsville. A "green" pilot, 2nd Lt., Earl C. Foster, retracted the landing gear too soon while taking off.
