CRASH OF AN AVRO ANSON
2 MILES NORTH OF BIGGENDEN, QLD
ON 5 JUNE 1942

At about 2020 hours on 5 June 1942, Avro Anson W1608 of No. 8 SFTS (71 Squadron) forced landed two miles north of Biggenden after becoming lost due to bad weather and darkness and running out of fuel. The crew of three were all killed in this tragic accident:-
Sgt. John Groves Hodges (407967) - Pilot
Sgt. Stephen Leigh Kilpatrick (408813)
Sgt. Tom Barnett Clark (416556)
