CRASH LANDING OF A KITTYHAWK
AT BATCHELOR AIRFIELD, NT
ON 2 JUNE 1942
P-40 Kittyhawk, #41-5553, piloted by Lt Oliver Vodrey of the 7th Pursuit Squadron, 49th Pursuit Group made a forced landing at Batchelor airfield in the Northern Territory, Australia on 2 June 1942. The incident was caused caused by dusty conditions. The aircraft nosed over. The Kittyhawk was condemned on 27 April 1943.
2nd Lieutenant Oliver B. Vodrey had been involved in an earlier crash at Wyong in New South Wales on 27 February 1942.
