CRASH OF AN A-24
AT DARWIN CIVIL AIRFIELD, NT
ON 17 FEBRUARY 1942

On 17 February 1942, USAAF A-24, #41-15794, of the 91st Bomb Squadron, 27th Bomb Group, 3rd Air Force, crashed while attempting a night time landing at the Darwin civil airfield. The pilot was Lt. John W. Jacobs, Jr. and crewman Sgt C.C. Hutchins. The aircraft was subsequently destroyed in the Japanese Air Raid on Darwin on 19 February 1942.
