CRASH OF A LOCKHEED HUDSON
AT CAMDEN AIRFIELD, NSW
ON 7 JANUARY 1943

 

Lockheed Hudson A16-138 piloted by F/O R.G. Rowe crashed on completion of his landing run into the north east at Camden Airfield at about 0920 hours on 7 January 1943. The aircraft overshot the runway and the port undercarriage leg collapsed after striking a sharp ridge just outside the airfield boundary. There were no casualties to the crew who were as follows:-

F/O Rodney Godolphin Rowe (411190) - pilot
F/O Neville Phillip Sydney Mortimer (403759) - Navigator
Sgt John Aitken Stevens (408743) - WOAG
Sgt. Maxwell Sibery Crouch (416657) WOAG
