CRASH OF A BOOMERANG
AT BROADMEADOW AIRFIELD, NSW
ON 9 APRIL 1944

At 1610 hours E.S.T. on 9 April 1944, Boomerang A46-41, piloted by F/Sgt James Lloyd Dickie (429496) of 2 A.P. Ferry Flight at Bankstown, made a forced landing in extremely bad weather and overshot the runway at Broadmeadow Civilian Airfield and ran into a storm water drain. The aircraft was on a ferry flight from Coffs Harbour to Bankstown at the time of the accident. F/Sgt Dickie was seriously injured.
