LIBERATOR DAMAGED BY FIRE
AT TOCUMWAL, NSW
ON 2 OCTOBER 1944
B-24D Liberator, A72-1, ex USAAF #41-11904 "Pride of the Yanks", was partly destroyed in a fire at Tocumwal in New South Wales on 2 October 1944.
The Liberator was transferred to the RAAF from the 90th Bomb Group on 15 February 1944. It had 811 airframe hours up at the time of the transfer. It arrived at 7 OTU on 29 May 1944.
Another Liberator, A72-4, was also partly destroyed in a fire at Tocumwal on the same day.
