Gwenda Donaldson moved to Geebung in 1947 a few years after the finish of WWII. She attended a Geebung Progress Association meeting in 1947 where she suggested the establishment of a local child-minding centre. Together with a group of like-minded local residents they established the Geebung Kindergarten which still exists today.

Gwenda Donaldson convinced a heavy equipment company to lend a corner of its land for the Kindergarten at 1 Maidencombe Street, Geebung. She also obtained a surplus army hut from the original nearby WWII Camp Chermside. The group persuaded a local builder to convert the hut into a kindergarten.

Gwenda Donaldson organised numerous Fetes and Melbourne Cup functions to raise money to operate the Kindergarten. Gwenda Donaldson passed away on 26 August 2010.

I was advised on 19 September 2016, that Gwenda Donaldson had lived in a house at 385 Robinson Road West which had also been a WWII army hut, probably also from Camp Chermside. In September 2016, the house had fallen into disrepair and was probably earmarked for demolition for a future development.
