Wing Commander K. R. J. Parsons, D.F.C. replaced Wing Commander J. K. Douglas, D.F.C., A.F.C. as squadron commander on about 18 October 1944. Parsons was a regular air force officer who had previously served in New Guinea, where he had been decorated for his raids against Japanese shipping.
