Greetings from another DUNN.
This all started when my Father mentioned he had heard that there were burial details available, on the Internet, for WW2 casualties. He asked me if it was possible to find details of the Rear Gunner on his last sortie, on 2nd October 1943. They were shot down over Munich, and the Rear Gunner Sgt. W.E Edmonds was the only fatality.
You can imagine my surprise when "surfing" to find that there is a web-site with details of that Squadron - 460 RAAF.
My father, Sgt. F.S. Dunn (1579910), the only POM in the Squadron at that time) was on that sortie as MUG and has talked very little about his experiences. nevertheless, when I told him that I had found all the details on the Internet he became quite emotional.
During our subsequent conversations, he said that the Captain on the sortie, was George Wellar ( nicknamed Sam, after the Dickens character and spelt Wellar, not Waller, who came from Gympie in Queensland).
Do you have any info on fatlities during the raids and where we might get details?
Can anyone help me with more information?
