US MILITARY TRUCK COLLIDES
WITH TAXI
AT DARRA, IN BRISBANE, QLD
ON 1 SEPTEMBER 1944
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII
An American Military truck collided with a taxi at the corner of Archerfield Road and Pine Road, Darra on the south side of Brisbane on 1 September 1944. Four servicemen, two women and the taxi driver were injured in the collision.
The driver of the truck was taken to a military hospital, while the taxi driver, Mr. William Charles William was taken to the General Hospital. Jessie Broom, 26, and Alice Cameron, 23, both of Grey Street, South Brisbane, who were passengers in the taxi, received non serious injuries. Three negro servicemen who were also in the taxi, received minor injuries.
