NEGRO SAILOR SLASHES NEGRO SOLDIER
WITH KNIFE IN SOUTH BRISBANE,
BRISBANE, QLD
ON 22 NOVEMBER 1944
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII

 

A negro US sailor attacked a negro US soldier with a knife in a lane off Grey Street, South Brisbane near the Doctor Carver Club on 22 November 1944. Shots were fired and the sailor was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm. The sailor was handed over by Queensland Police detectives to the United States authorities.

The wounded soldier was slashed in the abdomen, face and arms and was admitted to a military hospital in a critical condition.
