US AIRCRAFT SCRAPPED
AT 98 ROSS RIVER ROAD,
MUNDINGBURRA, TOWNSVILLE,
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII
John MacDonald used to live at 100 Ross River Road, Townsville. In the 1950 and 60s, Les Bray who lived next door at 98 Ross River Road was scrapping many ex USAAF aircraft wrecks for their aluminium. Les Bray's property went right through to Swales Street. The whole yard was about three quarters of an acre and comprised of No. 98, the block behind, and the block to the west behind John McDonald's place. Les Bray also dismantled RAAF Lincolns there when they were disposed of in the early 1960’s.
