ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE
HONOURS AND AWARDS
DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS
WARRANT OFFICER JAN GOULEVITCH (414019)
CITATION:
Warrant Officer GOULEVITCH has an outstanding operational record. On no less than nine successive occasions he has secured valuable photographs.
During an attack on Milan his starboard outer engine failed before the Alps were reached. In spite of this and of the loss of altitude he flew on to the target which he bombed successfully and made a safe return to base.
On another occasion over Cologne the aircraft was damaged by anti-aircraft fire, the port wing tip being shot off, the hydraulic system was punctured and the port engine put out of action. Despite this extensive damage, by very skilful airmanship a safe landing was made.
Warrant Officer GOULEVITCH has invariably displayed commanding courage.
