DURING WW2

The Queensland Main Roads Commission built an Allied Works Council Workshop at Oonoonba in Townsville during WWII. This was possibly utilised by the Civil Constructional Corps for War Works in the Townsville area.

Other Allied Works Council Workshops were built by the Queensland Main Roads Commission at Stratford near Cairns, and Camooweal.
