I received the following E-Mail from Tom Caplis on 29 June 1997:-

Subj: Caplis family Tipperary.

This is my first attempt at the internet and I hope this attempt is succesful. My name is Tom Caplis and I am presently resident in Dubai, UAE.

I read with interest your E mails regarding the Caplis family from Bird Hill. My family are from Tipperary from the Rear Cross/Kilcommon and Hollyford regions. The background is farming and my uncle Jim now deceased, was the creamery manager in Hollyford for many years. The family were actively involved during the troubles and most of the male members were on the run from Crown Forces for the duration. After that two of my uncles emigrated to the US and one Phil Caplis served with the FBI.

My fathers name was Jack Caplis and he moved to Co Cork in 1935. Our family have lived in that area since. I notice the spelling of the name changed at the end of your communication to Caplice. I am assuming this was a mis spelling.?

I also notice a long list of Caplis names under people on the net and I am assumig from the names many are decended from the tipperary branch of the caplis family. I hope this information is of some use to you.

Kind regards,

Tom Caplis.
