USAFIA COMMAND POST
UNDERGROUND ROOM, CASTLE HILL ROAD,
CASTLE HILL, TOWNSVILLE, QLD
DURING WWII
There is a well preserved United States Army Forces in Australia USAFIA Command Post located below the road to the top of Castle Hill in the North Ward area of Townsville. It is so well concealed that most people do not even know that it is there.

A rock retaining wall is located in front of the Command Post. This wall leads to a smaller wall supporting a path that leads directly off the edge of the Castle Hill road in to the underground room or bunker. Some have suggested that the steel doors have been removed from the two entrances.
