Dear Peter

My father Denis Albert Gurney served in 50 squadron "A" Flight in 1942.  He flew in "G" for George on the 24/8/42 on a mission to Frankfurt. He also flew missions in Lancasters "T", "J", "D" and "T" as a W/Op or Mid Upper Gunner. Do you know where I could access any photographs/information on the above squadron at that time? My father was posted missing over New Guinea on the 24/01 1945.

Hope you can help me, regards

Peter

Thanks for your reply. From what I can see from my father's log book which is from July and August 1942, all flights were with 50 Squadron "A"   Flight out of Swindery.

Would that explain why there were two "J" numbers written next to a flight number? One number has "W" in front of it so I presumed it might be a Wellington bomber.

Barbara

Can anyone help me with more information?
