CHARLEVILLE MEATWORKS AIRFIELD ELG
4 MILES EAST OF CHARLEVILLE
IN AUSTRALIA DURING WWII
The Charleville Meatworks Airfield was an Emergency Landing Ground for Charleville Airfield. It was located 4 miles east of Charleville on the north side of the railway line. There were two strips in the form of a cross. The NE to SW was 1,650 feet long and the WNW - ESE was 1980 feet long.
George Balsille advised that the Charleville Meatworks Airfield ELG was located on the north side of the Warrego Highway in the vicinity of Glenroy Siding, but far enough away for it not to be obvious. It was marked by a white cross.
