STAFFORD RADAR SITE (US)
BRISBANE, QLD
DURING WWII

hline.gif (2424 bytes)

I have heard vague comments of the existence of a radar station at Stafford in Brisbane during WWII. The only indication that I have so far found is mention of a Stafford Radar site in the National Archives of Australia web site.

I know that there was a Direction Finding Station operated by the 126th Signal Radio Intelligence Company. Perhaps their Direction Finding antenna was misidentified by locals as a Radar set rather than a D/F antenna. The following entry in the Brisbane Military Telephone Directory for May 1944 confirms the existence of a D/F Station in Brisbane operated by the 126th SRIC:-

Direction Finding:
    Major Brown, H.W.     126 R.I. Co.

Can anyone help me with more information?
