CRASH OF A FAIREY BATTLE
3 MILES NW OF BAIRNSDALE AIRFIELD, VIC
ON 3 OCTOBER 1942

Fairey Battle L5704 of No. 1 O.T.U. Bairnsdale forced landed due to engine failure 3 miles N.W. of Bairnsdale Airfield in Victoria  on 3 October 1942. The pilot  was Sgt. John Charles Bates (409495).
