CRASH OF A BEAUFORT
AT EAST SALE, VICTORIA
ON 2 APRIL 1944
RAAF Bristol Beaufort, A9-543 crashed
at East Sale, Victoria on 2 April 1944.
The pilot was F/O L.M. Marks who was on his first solo (night) practice. He made a heavy landing resulting in the collapsing of the the starboard undercarriage. The other crew member was F/O D.H, Gurney. Both were uninjured. The accident was put down as lack of experience on the Beaufort aircraft, and poor technique.
I'd like to thank Rick Hanning for his assistance with the details of this crash.
Can anyone help me with more information on this crash?
