CRASH OF AN A-20 HAVOC
POSSIBLY NEAR INNISFAIL, QLD
USAAF A-20G-20 Havoc, #42-86748, of the 93rd Airdrome Squadron, 27th Air Deport Group, FEAF disappeared on a flight between Rockhampton and Cairns on a trip to Nadzab on 17 April 1945. Last radio contact with the Havoc was near Innisfail (17 33' S, 146 01' E).
The crew were listed as missing in action as follows:-
1st Lt. Jack L. Russel 0-672214 (Pilot) (See note 1)
1st Lt. Frederick M. Chisholm 0-864515 (See Note 2)
Cpl. Stanley P. Worobey 11073118 (See Note 3)
Note 1:- The MACR spells his surname as Russell - later corrected to Russel, then corrected back to Russell
Note 2:- Another record shows him as Frederick M. Chisels
Note 3:- The MACR shows him as Stanley T. Worobey
