445 AUSTRALIAN HEAVY
ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN STATION
16 HEAVY ANTI-AIRCRAFT BATTERY
NELLY BAY , MAGNETIC ISLAND
DURING WWII
445 Australian Heavy Anti-aircraft Gun Station of 16 Heavy Anti-aircraft Battery was located at Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island located off the coast near Townsville.
Philip Dulhunty (philip@dulhunty.com) was stationed at this anti-aircraft battery during World War 2. He was also stationed at the Anti-aircraft battery at Mount St. John (Gunsite 393) in Townsville adjacent to Garbutt airfield.
He has sent me the following pictures of a recent nostalgic visit to the anti-aircraft battery location at Nelly Bay.

Were you stationed at Nelly Bay during World War 2?
If you were, I'd like to hear from you
