I was surprised and so pleased to receive an e-mail from my nephew with the picture mentioned. My brother, George Howard, is the young (might I say handsome) guy with the sunglasses on at the right. George was in the service when I was born in 1934, going in right after high school. I was always so very proud to have a brother in the service. You may have heard from my nephew by now, but just in case, I wanted you to know that my brother is alive, kicking when possible and resides with his wife of 58 years in a nursing home in Goffstown, NH. The body may be weak but the mind is sharp!
One of the things I always loved about him was that smile that you see in the picture. I like to think that maybe I have that same smile- at least the same sense of humor. If you or Jack Heyn would like any information, don't hesitate to e-mail me. I would love to know someone who knew him when he was young. I'm sure there are a lot of stories I would find interesting! Thanks loads for your site and keep up the good work.
With grateful thanks for all the young, (handsome), men who served!
