During WW II the US Navy established a Naval Officers Club at 50 Oxlade Drive, New Farm in Brisbane, on the other side of New Farm Park from the Brisbane Submarine Base at New Farm. The former buildings of the USN Officer's Club are now used by the Riverside Receptions centre, the Merthyr Bowls club and the RSL Headquarters.

The Merthyr Bowls Club Inc. is next door to Riverside Receptions

The two buildings of the Merthyr Bowls Club would appear to have also been part of the USN Riverside Officers Club
