At 9:00 am on Monday 16 August 2004, Mooloolaba Primary State School School held a special school parade to celebrate the official opening of their newly constructed multipurpose sports court on Venning Street, and to rededicate the historic sundial that was presented to the School in 1945 to commemorate Victory in the Pacific Day (15 August 1945).

The parade provided a wonderful opportunity for the current generation of school children to acknowledge the sacrifices of our service men and women and to connect with the children of 59 years ago who celebrated the end of World War II with a picnic and sports day on Mooloolaba Beach.

Some of the people who participated in the Victory in the Pacific Day celebrations at Mooloolaba 59 years ago attended the rededication ceremony.
