I.S.A.S. BUILDINGS
ROBINSON ROAD, GEEBUNG, QLD
THEY WERE LOCATED IN NEW GUINEA DURING WW2!
There is a cluster of military looking buildings on Robinson Road near the intersection with Newman Road at Geebung. They are indeed military buildings, but they were located in New Guinea during WW2.
In January 1947 the company I.S.A.S. was established and erected two igloo buildings in Robinson Road. George Lionel Ferguson, Chairman and Managing Director of I.S.A.S., had been an air force Major during WW2 and apparently knew General Douglas MacArthur. It was apparently through this connection that he was able to acquire the war surplus igloos.
Diesel mechanic, Reg Johnston, was sent to New Guinea to recover the buildings and bring them back to Geebung and reassemble them.
