CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT BAIRNSDALE
ON 2 OCTOBER 1942
Bristol Beaufort
RAAF Mark VI Bristol Beaufort, A9-73, crashed 1 mile past the end of the runway at Bairnsdale airfield on 2 October 1942 after a night take-off. The pilot, Sgt. G.A. David, was on his first solo night flight. He was killed in the fiery crash.
This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in June 1942.
