CRASH OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT BAIRNSDALE AIRFIELD
ON 5 JULY 1942
Bristol Beaufort
RAAF Mark VI Bristol Beaufort, A9-69, was involved in a night landing accident at Bairnsdale airfield on 5 July 1942 after it hit the runway heavily.
The crew of this aircraft all received light injuries as follows:-
F/O F.J. Montgomery (pilot)
P/O J.H. Davies
F/O A.J. Higgins
P/O W.A. Hepworth
This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in June 1942. This same aircraft was involved in a heavy landing at Nowra in New South Wales in August 1943 and was converted to components after this 2nd crash.
