CRASH LANDING OF A BRISTOL BEAUFORT
AT EAST SALE, VIC
ON 11 AUGUST 1943
RAAF Mark VI Bristol Beaufort, A9-55 (RAF Serial No. T9607), crashed at East Sale on 11 August 1943 when the starboard undercarriage retracted on landing.
The crew at the time of the accident were:-
Sgt. C.M. Fleming
Sgt. D.K. Stephenson
Sgt. W.A. Sudholtz
Sgt. B. Dempsey
This aircraft was originally delivered to the RAAF in May 1942. It was "not taken up". It was converted to an instructional airframe after the accident.
