USS GATO (SS-212)
OPERATED OUT OF BRISBANE SUBMARINE BASE
DURING WW2
US Navy Submarine USS Gato (SS-212) operated out of the Brisbane Submarine Base during WW2.
USS Gato rescued a group of Coast Watchers Bougainville during WW2. Edward Douglas "Slim" Otton was one of those Coast Watchers. Otton had assisted another Coast Watcher, Paul Edward Mason on Bougainville.
