823rd Signal Service Battalion
patch. This patch is
on a WWII Australian battle jacket, short waist, as
worn by many Americans while stationed in Australia.
On 1 July 1942, T/Sgt. Messer of the 823rd Signal Service Company was attached to the First Operating Platoon of the 126th Signal Radio Intelligence Company at Mount Macedon in Victoria for temporary duty to instruct the Platoon's intercept operators in ROMAJI and Japanese KANA telegraph code.
Can anyone help
me with more information
on the 823rd Signal Service Battalion?
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I'd like to thank Richard Denis Johnson for providing me with a scan of the patch for the 823rd Signal Service Battalion.
