Hello, My name is Laban West. My dad, Gordon Robert West, Sr. was a member of the 8th Photo Rcn Squadron between 5 May 1943 and the end of the war. He passed away in 1993.

I have two boxes of pictures that he brought back. Some are of GI's standing by airplanes, some of buildings and tents, most are of the surrounding terrain. Is there a site where names, etc are posted of men assigned to the 8th?

Hope to hear from you.

As far as I know dad was not in Australia. I distinctly remember him talking about the Philipines, New Guinea, and Okinawa. The photos do not have place names - I wish they did. Dad worked in the parachute shop. He was inducted in May of 1943 till the end of the war.

Will keep in touch.

I don't have a scanner, but one will be available in a couple of months. I can scan a few of my dad and some close ups of other GI's with their planes. As far as I know dad was not in Australia. I distinctly remember him talking about the Philipines, New Guinea, and Okinawa. The photos do not have place names - I wish they did. Dad worked in the parachute shop. He was inducted in May of 1943 till the end of the war.
