" Caterpillar Club"  badge.

P/O N.J. Anderson D.F.C, 460 Squadron, RAAF, was shot down on 2nd December 1943 and bailed out to later become POW.  He was later awarded the "Caterpillar Badge".

The badge was awarded by the Irwin Parachute Company and was only given out to those airmen that had "hit the silk" during operations after being shot down . The badge is 25mm in length, gold and has red stones for eyes. The badge is named and accompanying the badge is a card as a certificate of membership.

The badge represents a silk worm.

The above information and images on P/O N.J. Anderson, DFC were donated to me by Bruce McDonald of "World Medals Catalogue" (wmc@powerup.com.au).
