The wartime site of 5 Fighter Sector Headquarters (5FSHQ), RAAF, at Berrimah, near Darwin has been recently rediscovered (5 Fighter later known as 105 Fighter Control Unit). The site has been prepared by the Heritage Branch of the Northern Territory Government and was dedicated on Friday 13 August 1999.
5 Fighter Sector Headquarters was formed at Darwin on 25 February 1942. It was renamed to 105 Fighter Control Unit (105 FCU) on 7 March 1944.
105 FCU was disbanded at Darwin on 21 January 1945
